JI lodges sit-ins outside K-Electric office in Karachi

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chapter organised a public sit-ins to protest against continuous load shedding and major power breakdown in the metropolis Karachi.

The protest is being led by Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman started outside K-Electric head office situated at Punjab Chawrangi in Defence Phase IV of Karachi.

Large number of protestors are participating in the ongoing sit-ins while demonstrators chanted slogans against load shedding and K-Electric administration.

Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman while addressing to the JI activists said K-Electric will be brought to the justice to hold accountability of its past and current misapprehensions.

JI Karachi Ameer said that K-Electric which is formely known as Karachi Electric Supply Company Limited (KESC) was privatised via illegal process.

They said that the KE transform the ‘City of Lights’ into the city of darkness. They said that the majority of the populace of the city have been facing a continuous mental and physical trauma due to the greed of the KE’s ownership and some politicians.

Referring to the KE’s support by the armed wings of some so-called political parties, JI leaders said that those so-called contractors of the city are hands in gloves with the KE and added that they indeed fueled the already deteriorating situation.

JI leaders raised questions on monitory affairs of the entity and held the administration and politicians who are supporting them responsible for the illegal moves of KE.

JI Karachi Chief Eng. Hafiz Naeem and several other leaders also addressed the demonstration. They announced to further escalate the campaign against the KE after Eid-ul-Fitar.

Protestors offered Magrib, Esha and Tarivih outside the KE headquarters in Karachi.

Moreover, demonstrators demanded accountability of K-Electric and its administration. JI Karachi administration has made special arrangement for Iftaar for its activists during the ongoing sit-ins.

While talking to reporters on the event, JI central leader Muslim Pervaiz termed the electric supply company as wolf and strongly demanded strict action against the responsible person who imposed the company on the Karachiites.
