KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi’s campaign for the upcoming local government (LG) polls is in full swing as dozens of corner meetings have been held across the district west and mid city areas, here on Wednesday.
Several election offices were also inaugurated in the city. The JI’s candidates met with individuals during door to door contact campaign and convinced them to vote for JI and briefed them about the agenda of the JI for the development and progress of the city.
The JI’s candidates received overwhelming response from the citizens. A large number of citizens in general and senior citizens in particular appreciated the role of JI in past for the development of the city.
The JI has joined hand with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and is contesting the LG polls under a seat adjustment formula with the PTI in Karachi. Citizens also expressed their satisfaction over clubbing of pro-peace and positive political forces.
Addressing the meetings, JI leader Abdul Razzak and Munem Zafar assured people for transparency and accountability in the usage of funds for the city, if the joint candidates of JI and PTI are succeeded.
They vowed that the lost status of Karachi would be restored and city would once again be regarded as the city of lights.
