KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman on Thursday held meeting with a delegation of Pakistan Steel Trade Union and Employees Alliance (PSTUEA) in Idara Noor-r-Haq. A detailed discussion was held regarding issues of workers, non-payment of salaries and privatisation of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM).
Hafiz Naeem vowed the delegation to support PSM employees and anti-privatisation movement. It was decided to hold All Parties’ Conference (APC) on October 03 under chair of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Secretary General Liaqat Baloch to highlight issues of PSM employees and the controversial privatisation move of the national institution.
The delegation led by Zafar Khan arrived in JI Karachi headquarters Idara Noor-e-Haq while other members include PASLO President Haji Khan Lashari, Pakistan Steel Officers TOPS President Shahid Allahwala, PSTUEA General Secretary Adil Khan, Insaf Labour Union President Waheed Soomro, Employees’ League General Secretary Naseem Haider, Functional League Labour Wing President Abdul Waheed Channa, People’s Union Nazaryati President Akbar Narejo, Pakistan Awami Tehreek Steel Unit President Abdul Waheed Arain and others. During the meeting, JI Karachi Naib Ameer Birjees Ahmed and Secretary Information Zahid Askari.
Hafiz Naeem said JI considered PSM problems as a national issue and the political party did not support privatisation of the prominent national institution. He urged all political parties to give priority of the PSM issues. He strongly condemned atrocities of the government by non-payment of salaries for months to thousands of PSM employees. He said JI has always raised voice against atrocities and it will continue to support all victimised persons.
He urged need of an organised movement to resolve PSM issues to get attention of current rulers. He added Pakistan Steel Mills is a national and sensitive institution while its destruction will result big disaster for whole nation. He detailed that PSM has also possessed significance as defence aspect which could not be neglected.
