LAHORE: Jamaat e Islami Ameer Sirajul Haq has welcomed the Supreme Court historical verdict for the implementation of Urdu and said it was the most auspicious moment for the nation.
He said in a statement that the JI had been struggling for the implementation of Urdu for years and had also observed Urdu Day last week. He said that the Supreme Court’s decision represented the sentiments of the masses.
He urged the federal and provincial governments, the armed forces and civil bureaucracy to implement the apex court decision in letter and spirit. He said that the Cabinet division and the Establishment Division should begin the implementation of the order without any hindrance. He said that added that the nation would not tolerate any delay in this respect.
The JI chief said that the competitive examinations should be held in the national language and all correspondence in offices should be in Urdu.
