LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that those who have been plundering public wealth did not deserve any leniency and the JI believed in recovering every penny from them. He was talking to different delegations which called on him at Mansoora, on Wednesday.

Sirajul Haq said that moral, economic and political corruption had shaken the very foundations of the society and this was the main hurdle in the development of the country. He said that political opportunists changed parties and slogans but their character remained unchanged.   He said that the non implementation of the articles 62 and 63 of the constitution had enabled corrupt politicians to reach the assemblies although the proper place for them was the Udyala jail.

The JI chief said that the politicians who had developed the taste for loot and plunder could not mend their ways and they could not live without commissions and kickbacks. He said that whenever some action was begun against the plunderers, they started shouting of political victimization.  He asked who had authorized NAB to let those who had plundered billions after paying a few lakhs.

He said that those who had plundered billions and deposited that in their personal bank accounts, were the biggest tyrants as it was because of them that the country was under debt of the IMF and World Bank. While every new born child in the country was under debt of thousands, the corrupt rulers owned posh palaces in major world cities like London and Dubai, he added.

Sirajul Haq commended the role of the media in exposing the corrupt. He said that the JI was mobilizing public opinion against status quo and corruption. The JI, he said, had honest and competent leadership at all levels as was capable of serving the nation and putting the country on the path of progress and stability.

Sirajul Haq expressed the hope that the masses would differentiate between their friends and foes and refuse to be misled by the plunderers in future.
