KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said that limiting the special powers of Rangers only to Karachi will boost discrimination.

In a statement on Wednesday, the JI leader stressed the need to provide Rangers with policing powers throughout the Sindh province.

He was of the view that the metropolis of Karachi has already suffered a lot due to ethnic and other forms of discrimination. He added that discriminating behavior had been causing hatred among the dwellers of the city and any such decision which is supposed to increase discrimination would be disastrous for the city.

The JI leader said that it would be another catastrophe, if the newly chosen chief minister of the province takes measures based on political point scoring.

He demanded of the government to resolve the long lasting basic problems of the city. He was of the view that the example of good governance can only be set through resolving the issues of masses and any other approach in this regard would only be resulted in cosmetic measures
