ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq on Tuesday expressed deep concerns over the death sentence to JI Bangladesh Ameer Motiur Rehman Nizami pronounced by the controversial war crimes tribunal; as well as dismissal of review petition by the Supreme Court.
While talking to the media outside the Parliament House, he expressed grief over the court’s proceedings despite serious objections made by the human right organisations.
Haq said Motiur Rehman Nizami and his fellows were being punished in Bangladesh over raising voice for the united Pakistan.
The JI leader said that Bangladeshi courts continued to level serious allegations on Pakistan in each verdict against JI leaders. He declared it as direct threats to national integrity of Pakistan.
Sirajul Haq termed the executions to JI leaders as violations of trilateral agreement inked on April 9 – 1947. He said masses expressed their firm confidence on Motiur Rehman Nizami and his fellows by electing them many times in the elections.
Haq demanded of the Pakistan government to take measures in collaboration with the United Nations, human right organisations and Muslim countries to stop the illegal executions of JI leaders in Bangladesh by the controversial war crimes tribunal.
He asked the government to send delegations across the world to expose the inhuman and illegal death penalties in Bangladesh.
He warned the Bangladesh government that the executions were affecting relations between the neighbouing countries. The JI leader said he asked the ambassadors of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Iran, Germany, China and other countries to play role to stop the atrocities against JI leadership in Bangladesh.
