KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Amir Senator Seraj-ul-Haq demanded labourers and peasants shares in the profit of factories and fields respectively and said that corrupt politicians are usurping the rights of labourers so the working class have to be united against the oppressors without any discrimination of cast, creed and colour.

Expressing his views on Wednesday while addressing a seminar entitled ‘Anti Privatization Labour Convention’ being held at Railway Stadium by the National Labour Federation, he said that the ruling regime is mulling to sale Pakistan in the pretext of privatization on the behest of the international monitory institutions.

Scores of labourers, particularly workers of Pakistan Railways participated in the seminar. Disapproving the privatization agenda, the JI supremo said that any attempt to sale national institutions for the nefarious interests of rulers would be foiled and labourers are not alone in their movement as it is the issue of survival of entire Pakistan not only labourers.

He vowed to remain steadfast shoulder to shoulder besides labourers till his last breath. He also vowed to bring millions of people on the back of labourers.

JI chief said that he can feel the pain of labourers as he himself has first hand experience of being a labour. He said that he was son of a labourer and himself remained in the profession to pursue his education.

He held those sitting in the legislative assemblies responsible for exploiting the rights of labourers. He added that corrupt politicians are responsible for the decline of Pakistan Railways, Pakistan International Airlines, Pakistan Steel Mills, Wapda and other institutions.

Haq said that there is no role of labourers in the dismal conditions of the national institutions so no one should dare to punish them, instead of the real culprits. The JI chief said that the Constitution of Pakistan provides poor with the right to have facilities of accommodation, health and education free of cost, while back to back ruling regimes have been exploiting the labourer class.

He said that corrupt politicians, bureaucracy, landlords and capitalists have captured the Islamic Republic of Pakistan since the demise of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He said that the ongoing economic terrorism of rulers would not be tolerated any more. Criticizing the economic policies, he said that it seems the finance minister posses an iron piece in his heart, instead of a heart.

The JI leader said that the interest based economic system has ruined the economy of the state and forced masses to live a miserable life while the elite class is minting heaps of money. He culminated that a peaceful Islamic revolution is the only way to transform Pakistan into a welfare state.

JI Sindh Amir Asadullah Bhutto Advocate stressed the need of unity among labourers to ensure the security of their rights. Engr. Naeem-ur-Rehman, JI Karachi chapter head said that the idea of privatization is a bad idea as it had produced worst results in past and the privatization of the then Karachi Electric Supply Corporation is evident on it.
