KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Engr. Haifiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has strictly criticized the government for its failure in ensuring provision of electricity to Karachiites, particularly during the ongoing summer.

Commenting over the suspension of electricity to Bhit Shah island for more than two days, the JI leader said that such inhuman behavior of relevant authorities to masses is quite unacceptable.

The JI leader expressed his deep concern and said that unfortunately K-Electric has been irking the lives of Karachiites, since the privatization of the then KESC, while government officials and political parties both at the treasury benches as well as the opposition have been providing support to the KE management.

He said that the rising frequency of power outages in the city is a matter of grave concern for all segments of the society except the ruling and influential class.

Engr. Naeem said that god forbidden, the behavior of KE management to poor masses could be resulted into loss of precious lives, particularly of the infants and senior citizens.

He said that the privatization of the KE has been proved as good for nothing except the top management of the entity and some beneficiaries of kick backs.

Naeem demanded of those in the corridors of powers to look into the matter as massive embezzlement is feared in the privatization and later the silence of the ruling offices over the violations of the privatization agreement by the KE management. He further added that involvement and influence of terrorists cartels in the entity is also feared and cannot be ruled out.
