JI demands effective cleanliness drive before August 14

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Chief Engr. Naeem ur Rehman has demanded of he government to ensure cleanliness of the city before the Independence Day in August 14.

In a statement on Wednesday, JI Karachi chief expresses his disappointment over dismal situation of cleanliness in the city despite the CM’s visit of the city.

He said that heaps of the garbage could be seen at roads throughout the city, while only some cosmetic measures were taken during the visit of CM Murad Ali Shah so as to satisfy him or media that something is being done on ground.

He said that the citizens were suffering from various diseases due to the stinky and stagnant water in several areas as well as the garbage on the streets and roads of the city.

Engr. Naeem said that the government and corrupt officials have ruined the slogan of clean and green Karachi that was adopted during the tenure of Nematullah Khan.

He was of the view that the current dismal situation of cleanliness in the city could be avoided in the institutions had played their role, instead of being politicized.

He demanded of the government to ensure compilation of cleanliness drive effectively before August 14, so as people could celebrate Independence Day with fresh feelings.
