JI call upon govt to fulfill the constitutional requirements for timely elections

LAHORE: The central Shoora of the Jamaat e Islami has called upon the government to fulfill the constitutional requirements for timely elections by preparing the constituencies on the basis of fresh census.

The Shoora, through a resolution adopted at a meeting chaired by the JI Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq warned that any supra constitutional step would endanger national solidarity. It stressed that the Election Commission be made totally independent and autonomous enabling it to discharge its duties regarding delimitation of constituencies, preparation of electoral rolls, the polling scheme, etc.

The JI central consultative body condemned the ambush on the constitutional and legal provisions concerning the oath about Khatme Nubuwwat and the attempts to benefit the Qadyanis under the cover of parliamentary reforms. The Shoora commended the insight of the JI leader in the National Assembly for uncovering the conspiracy well in time. It also thanked all religious and political parties in the parliament for adopting a common line of action on the issue that helped to foil the whole  game.

The Shoora demanded that the report of the Raja Zafrul Haq committee on the issue be made public and for handing down exemplary punishment to the all those involved in the conspiracy. The Shoora warned the rulers and the secular elements in the country to desist from pursuing the foreign agenda aiming at amending the Islamic articles/ provisions of the constitution and the law especially those concerning the Khatme Nubuwwat and Blasphemy of the Holy Prophet.

The JI Shoora called upon the government to promptly implement the recommendations of the FATA reforms committee, announcing the merger of the tribal areas with Khyber P and abolish the FCR.

While expressing deep concern over the terrorist attacks on the security forces personnel in Balochistan, the JI Shoora held the Indian agencies responsible for these. It called upon the government to take prompt notice of India’s violations at the border and the LoC, causing death of innocent men, women and children. It urged the government to expose India’s excesses at the international level.

The Shoora condemned the ruling junta making for a mockery of the judicial decisions and said this was a highly dangers trend that could harm the country and the nation. It also called for fulfilling the constitutional and legal requirements after the release of the Model Town enquiry report.
