JI asks PTI to withdraw candidate in NA-246 by-election

ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-Islami Ameer Siraj Ul Haq and secretary general Liaqat Baloch have called on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) secretary general Jehangir Khan Tareen in Islamabad to discuss by-election on NA-246.

The JI chief of the view that his party candidate in by-poll for the constituency Rashid Naseem has in strong position as compare to the PTI’s candidate Imran Ismail.

Siraj Ul Haq urged the PTI secretary general to withdraw his party candidate keeping in view the ground position.

While Jehangir Tareen said that the decision to withdraw Imran Ismail from by-election will be decided after consultation with the party chief Imran Khan and other leadership of the party.

The two party leaders also discussed overall political situation of the country.

The by-election on the seat is due on April 23. Electioneering in the constituency  is on full swing as all contesting parties were striving hard to win the by-election.
