LAHORE: Secretary General, Jamaat-e-Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has called upon the Pakistan government to stop the participation of the Indian Home Minister in the Islamabad SAARC conference.
Addressing a press conference in connection with the JI Azadi March from Lahore to Wagha border tomorrow (Sunday), he made it clear to the governments of Pakistan and India that until and unless the Kashmir issue was on the agenda, the talks between the two countries would not bear fruit.
The JI Secretary General suggested to the government to constitute delegations of the parliamentarians that should visit the five permanent members of the UN besides its eleven non permanent members to highlight the Kashmir issue.
He appealed the masses to join the JI Azadi march as would be a show of solidarity with the Kashmiris who were facing the bullets of the occupation forces bravely but were not ready to give up their demand for the right of self determination.
He said that India’s atrocities in Held Kashmir, East Punjab and Assam had crossed all limits but the international organizations, human rights bodies and the UN remained unmoved.
Liaqat Baloch stressed that trade and cultural ties with India be suspended till New Delhi accepted Kashmir as a disputed territory, withdrew her troops from the valley and released thousands of Kashmiris lying in jails.
The JI Punjab chief Mian Maqsood Ahmed told newsmen that the JI was observing a two week programme to express solidarity with the Kashmiris during which rallies and public meetings had been held and Ghaibana funeral prayer had been offered in scores of cities for Burhan Muzaffar Wani Shaheed.
He said that the Azadi March tomorrow would start from the Nasir Bagh in the afternoon and terminate at Wagha border after winding its way through Lahore Press Club, Garhi Shahu, Sadar Bazar and Harbanspura interchange.
