Jamaat-e-Islami announces to widen scope of sit-in to Karachi roads

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has announced to widen the scope of ongoing sit-in against the Local Government Bill to the city’s key thoroughfares and roundabouts.

Addressing the sit-in outside the Sindh Assembly here on Saturday, the JI chief said that now the scope of the protest would be expanded to city’s key  roads and intersections. Those who believe the issue is over should realise the matter has now begun, Hafiz Naeem told the participants of the sit-in, which had been staged against the recently passed Sindh Local Government (Amendment) Bill, 2021.

Speaking about the Murree incident, the JI leader termed it as tragedy. Criticising the government, he said that it had claimed to promote tourism in country but the Murree tragedy had exposed its claim.

A large number of office-bearers of Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba also joined the sit-in today.
