ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s northern areas including the capital city Islamabad were jolted by a strong earthquake forcing the people to come on streets.
Chitral, Hangu, Sargodha, Batgram, Charsadda, Bannu, Swat, Muzaffarabad, Khushab, Attock, Nowshera and some parts of Lahore also felt light tremors. According to DG Met Office, the magnitude of quake was 6.4 % as measured on Richter scale.
The MET department confirmed the epicentre of the quake to be near the Afghan-Tajikistan border and was measured to be at a depth of 200 kilometres.
Tremors were felt in various parts of the country including Islamabad, Faisalabad, Mianwali, Peshawar and Sargodah and were felt up to 30 seconds after the quake.
Indian media reports say that Srinagar city of Indian Occupied Kashmir also felt light tremors.
