LAHORE: Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch has said that the Islamabad sit in was purely on a religious issue and none of the parties should think of any conspiracy against the constitution, democracy and the electoral process in the prevailing situation as would lead to a strong resistant movement all over the country.

Addressing the central advisory board of the JI at Mansoora, he said that the sit in had ended under an agreement and the government policy to use force had miserably failed.

The JI Secretary General said that the martyrdom of the lovers of the Holy Prophet (pboh( for the cause of Kahtme Nubuwat should make it clear to the secular forces that the believers irrespective of their sectarian or factional differences, could not compromise on the Islamic signs and laws especially the Finality of the Holy Prophet and the respect and dignity off the  Holy Prophet. He said that the highly irresponsible statements of the ministers had worsened the situation.

Liaqat Baloch said that although there were positive changes in the electoral reforms, the JI and other religious parties still stuck to demand that the Election Act 2017 should be amended to provide for separate lists of the Muslim and non Muslim voters and the electoral rules of 1974 be incorporated word by word in the Election Act 2017.

He stressed that the agreement with the protestors be implemented completely and the demands of those staging sit-in in the Punjab capital be also accepted without delay.
