In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed, today, against the shifting of illegally detained Dukhtaran-e-Millat Chairperson, Aasiya Andrabi, and her associates, Nahida Nasreen and Fehmeeda Sofi, from Srinagar Central Jail to New Delhi by India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Call for the shutdown has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. All Shops and business establishments are closed while traffic is off the road.
The Joint Resistance Leadership in a statement issued in Srinagar condemning the action of NIA termed it the worst form of political vengeance against the Hurriyat leaders.
Aasiya Andrabi, Nahida Nasreen and Fehmeeda Sofi were lodged in Srinagar Central Jail in false cases registered against them.
However, the NIA shifted them to New Delhi on Friday on the charges of waging war against India.
The NIA had filed an FIR against them on 26th April, this year, for advocating freedom of Jammu and Kashmir from India and calling for intensifying the struggle to achieve this objective. They were produced before the Delhi’s Patiala House Court which remanded them to NIA’s custody for 10 days till July 16.
Meanwhile, the occupation authorities have suspended train service in the occupied territory.
