In occupied Kashmir, the Human Rights Commission has sought reports from deputy commissioners of Islamabad and Kulgam districts on separate petitions, seeking directions to find real facts into the killing of two civilians at Srigufwara and Chader areas, last month.

Muhammad Yousuf of Srigufwara was killed in the firing of Indian troops on protesters during a cordon and search operation on June 22 while Yawar Ahmed Dar of Gusipora Wanpoh was shot dead by the troops during demonstrations in Kulgam on June 02. Besides killings, a number of civilians were injured in the troops’ actions.

Hearing the petitions filed by the Chairman of International Forum for Justice and Human Rights Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, the Chairman of Human Rights Commission, Justice ((Retd) Bilal Nazki, issued the notice to SSPs and deputy commissioners of Islamabad and Kulgam and asked them to submit the detailed compliance reports before the commission by or before August 8.

“The civilian killings and injuries are the outcome of irresponsible action by the forces which is against the ethics and principles of human rights,” Muhammad Ahsan Untoo has submitted in the petition.
