Involvement of banned group feared in recent Karachi killings

KARACHI: Security officials have apprehended involvement of a terrorist group in recent incidents of killing in Karachi on Friday.

Security sources said Hafiz Qasim Rasheed Group of outlawed Lashkar-e-Jhangvi operating in the megacity.

Hafiz Qasim Rasheed alias Ganja, presently imprisoned in Sukkur Central Jail, has been the chief of the Sindh chapter of (LeJ), sources said. He is operating his terror network from the jail.

According to security sources, scores of the operatives of the terrorist group have been released from Sukkur Jail. The members of the group could commit incidents of terrorism again, the officials feared.

In recent incidents of killings in Karachi five people were killed at Shafeeq More and Nagan Chowrangi areas of the city.

Intelligence and security agencies investigating into the incidents to arrest the culprits.
