Investigation committee formed to probe Karachi hotel fire

KARACHI: An investigation committee headed by Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) South has been formed to probe Karachi hotel fire.

At least 12 people were killed when a four-star hotel in Karachi caught fire early Monday. Reportedly, 75 people suffered injuries in the blaze, which started in Regent Plaza hotel’s kitchen.

The dead bodies of the victims have been sent to their local towns where the burial ceremonies are underway. Grief-stricken families mourned the shocking death of their beloved ones from the huge inferno.

Bodies were handed over to the families including the assistant professor of Civil Hospital Nawabshah Dr Abdur Raheem Solangi, was soon-to-be-married , nurse Rubi Saveeta who was the daughter of a tailor in Toba Tek Singh, a Gujranwala couple who were present in the hotel to attend a wedding and Umerkot’s District health officer Dr Mohan Talwani.

Investigation is in progress and a report will be presented to Chief Minister (CM) Sindh in a span of seven days.
