Indian troops martyr one youth in Pulwama

In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred one more Kashmiri youth in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, today.

The troops killed the youth during a cordon and search operation in Chowduri Bagh area of Litter in the district. The martyr has been identified as Irfan Ahmad Rather, a resident of Rajpora village of the district. The authorities immediately suspended internet service in Pulwama district.

The killing triggered massive protest demonstrations with youth taking to the streets and raising vociferous pro-freedom and anti-India slogans. The troops fired bullets, pellets and teargas shells on the protesters. This led to intense clashes between the troops and protesters.

The Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, and other Hurriyat leaders paid glowing tributes to martyr Irfan Ahmed Rather. Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, said that the Indian occupational forces were wreaking havoc on the lives of Kashmiri people as a result of impunity enjoyed by the forces under draconian Public Safety Act.

The Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq welcomed the statement of Norwegian Prime Minister, Erna Solberg on Kashmir dispute and expressed hope that Norway and other western countries would come in a big way to resolve the Kashmir dispute. Erna Solberg, in an interview with an Indian TV channel in New Delhi, ruled out any military solution to the Kashmir dispute. According to the TV channel, the Norwegian Prime Minister said that her country was ready to mediate between India and Pakistan for settlement of the Kashmir dispute. Last November, the former Prime Minister of Norway, Kjell Magne Bondevik, made headlines when he visited the occupied territory and met some pro-freedom leaders.

Hurriyat leader Zafar Akbar Butt also hailed the statement of Erna Solberg on Kashmir and her offer for mediation of talks between Pakistan and India.

Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement Chairman, Maulvi Bashir Irfani while addressing a prayers meeting in Islamabad town paid glowing tributes to Sajjad Ahmad Kenu on his 23rd martyrdom anniversary, today. Police arrested Hurriyat leader, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza to prevent him from attending the function.

A Central Reserve Police Force man deployed at the residence of a former member of so-called Kashmir Assembly in Jammu was found dead being hit with bullets under mysterious conditions. The deceased was a native of Haryana state of India.
