SRINAGAR: Four Indian troops including a major were killed in an attack in Bandipora district of Indian occupied Kashmir.
A Major and three troops of 14-Rashtirya Rifles were killed in a clash with Mujahideen in Bhutoo area of the district.
The troops had started a massive siege and search operation in Athwatoo, Panar, Vewan, Kudara and other areas of the district after the killing of an officer of Indian police in an attack at Sumbal in the district on October 7.
Exchange of fire between Indian forces and Mujahideen continued till last reports came in.
Meanwhile, the troops during a violent crackdown operation martyred a youth in Khandaypora area of Kulgam district, today (Thursday).
Indian army claimed that the killed youth was a militant commander and was killed in an encounter with the troops in Khandaypora area of the district.
