KARACHI: An Indian passenger plane flying to Lucknow from Sharjah made an emergency landing at the Karachi airport after one of its passenger fell ill.
According to civil aviation sources, IndiGo Airlines Flight 6E1412 from Sharjah to Lucknow, India, entered Pakistani territory via Iran at 4am and a passenger on board fell ill.
The sources said that the captain contacted the air traffic control and sought permission to land the plane at Karachi airport on humanitarian grounds.
The plane made an emergency landing at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi at 5am with the permission of the authorities on humanitarian grounds.
However, 60-year passenger Habibur Rehman Salman breathed his last before getting any emergency medical aid on the plane.
Later, after a confirmation of death by doctors and completion of necessary documentation, the India plane left for Ahmedabad at 8:36am.
