Assam, India: India has taken another anti-Muslim step.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is in power in the Indian state of Assam and the Assam State Assembly has passed a bill to close all madrassas.
In Assam, the BJP government has passed a new bill under which more than 700 government-run Muslim madrassas in the state will be closed by April.
According to the bill, these 700 Muslim madrassas will be converted into secondary and high schools.
Assam’s opposition says the Modi government’s move is a reflection of the Modi government’s anti-Muslim sentiment.
