NEW DELHI: India is a Hindu Rashtra (state) as it has 100 crores Hindu population, a BJP lawmaker said here on Wednesday, exposing the country’s so-called claim of being a secular state.

Speaking to the media outside the parliament, BJP MP from UP’s Gorakhpur and actor Ravi Kishan defended the Citizenship Amendment Bill and said that the country is a Hindu Rashtra.
He said that there are several Muslim and Christian countries in the world, so it is amazing that we have a country called Bharat to keep alive our culture.
After the passing of the Citizenship Amendment Bill by the India’s Union Cabinet today it is likely to be introduced in the parliament in the next two days.
Once approved by the parliament, India will allow citizenship to non-Muslim refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan if they faced religious persecution there.
