GUWAHATI, India: At least five more protesters were killed during the violent protests against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill here on Sunday.
Three of the victims were shot dead by the local police while one died after being beaten up during the violent protests. The fifth victim was burnt to death when a shop in which he was sleeping was torched.
Local administration has imposed curfew and Internet blackout in some parts of the northeast region.

In some parts of Begal state, located in the east, train service was suspended amid demonstrations.
Last week, exposing its so-called secular image, India had passed a controversial legislation that will allow citizenship to all religious minorities except Muslims fleeing persecution from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
The Indian lower house Lok Saba passed the Citizenship Amendment Bill early Tuesday.
Indian Home Minister Amit Shah moved the Citizenship Amendment Bill in the Lok Saba.
