Independence Day to be celebrated in Karachi in befitting manner

KARACHI: The 70th Independence Day of Pakistan will be celebrated in Karachi, as elsewhere, on August 14 with due fervour and enthusiasm.

The main ceremony of the day would be held at the mausoleum of Founder of Pakistan, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Governor Sindh, Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan, will be the chief guest at the flag hoisting ceremony at the mausoleum. Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, along with provincial cabinet, would also be present on the occasion.

They will lay wreaths and offer Fateha.

The cadets of Pakistan Navy would perform the guard duty at the mausoleum.

The people from various walks of life and representatives of different organizations would also visit the Quaid’s mausoleum to pay homage to the Father of the Nation, lay wreaths and offer Fateha.

A number of academic, social, political and other organizations have chalked out programmes to mark the Independence Day in a befitting manner.

Television channels and radio stations would offer special programmes to shed light on various aspects of the Freedom Movement and the life and achievements of the Father of the Nation.

The newspapers would publish special supplements on the Independence Day.

A number of organizations would be holding flag hoisting ceremonies.

The Sindh police have made fool-proof security arrangements on the Independence Day.
