In historic first: Supreme Court hears Army Chief Gen Bajwa’s extension case

ISLAMABAD: The top court is hearing the COAS Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa’s tenure case here on Wednesday.

Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa is heading a three-member bench comprising Justice Mian Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel and Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah.

Farogh Naseem, the former law minister who had resigned on Tuesday, is representing the army chief while government is being represented by Attorney General (AG) Anwar Mansoor Khan.

During the hearing, Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah asked if a retired general can be appointed as army chief.

To which, the attorney general said: “Maybe a retired general can be appointed as army chief  but there is no such example”.
