MANDI BAHAUDDIN: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Saturday offered to hold re-election for Local Government (LG) by Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) under supervision of military troops.
Imran Khan was addressing a public meeting during election campaign for by-election in NA-108 constituency of Mandi Bahauddin in Punjab province to be held on June 8.
While addressing hundreds of PTI activists, Imran Khan criticised ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) rulership over wasting Rs60 billion on Metro Bus Project. He alleged that the government destroyed infrastructure of Punjab province.
PTI chairman claimed KP government is the first that organises Local Bodies’ election without making any delay like previous governments. He showed agreement to re-organise LB polls if allegations were levelled for vote rigging in LB election over KP province.
He complained that Pakistan left behind in the development and prosperity race against Western countries. He promised not to impose back-to-back taxes on the nationals like current government. He added that PTI government would bring back national assets from elites of the country besides envisaging stable policies to eradicate poverty.
Imran Khan was addressing election campaign in the National Assembly NA-108 seat that had went vacated after declared disqualification of lawmaker of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Ijaz Chaudhry who was deposed over having fake degree and concealing its assets.
It should be mentioned here that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) have a sizeable vote bank in NA-108 constituency of Mandi Bahauddin.
PPP gave ticket to Asif Basheer Bhagat and JI’s Riaz Farooq Sahi would be seen in the electoral race while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) provided election ticket to formally nominated former PPP MNA Chaudhry Tariq Tarrar of Raika who had joined the party last year.
