I won’t respond to concerns raised by judges: Saeed Ghani

KARACHI: Sindh Education and Labour Minister Saeed Ghani on Monday said that he would not respond to any concerns raised by the esteemed judges of the apex court.

The education minister expressed these views while talking to the media outside the Supreme Court Karachi registry here on Monday.

He said that we are using all the available resources.

Ghani said that the provinces and the federation had decided in a meeting to reopen schools from September 15. However, another meeting will be held on Sept 7 to review the situation.

The minister said that according to the law and powers, we give funds to the mayor of Karachi. If the mayor is not satisfied, then relevent law will have to be changed, he added.

In reply to a query, he said that a contempt of court petition had been filed against me in the Supreme Court and whenever the Karachi Registry holds hearing here, I  appear before it.

To another question, Ghani said that he would not comment on today’s observation made by of the judges. He said that the Sindh government was working according to its available resources.

He said that the problems of the people of Sindh province are so many and we are trying to solve them, using all our resources. That is why people are happy with us and they vote for us.

He added that we have a committee on opening educational institutions, which includes all the provincial education ministers. The committee is headed by the federal education minister, he added.

When asked to comment on the Karachi mayor’s performance, the minister said that the people of Karachi should be asked if they are satisfied with his performance.
