I want peace with India and resolution of Kashmir issue: Shehbaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD: Shehbaz Sharif, nominated as prime minister by the joint opposition, has said that national harmony will be our first priority.

Prime Minister-designate Shehbaz Sharif has said in an informal conversation with media in Parliament House here on Sunday that he wants peace with India. Peace is not possible without resolution of Kashmir issue.

“National harmony is my first priority. We will promote mutual respect,” he said. The new cabinet will be formed in consultation with opposition leaders.

He said that efforts would be made to improve the economy of the country and provide relief to the people.

Asked about the return of Nawaz Sharif and the future of his cases, he said that Nawaz Sharif’s cases would be dealt with in accordance with the law.

Yesterday, Shehbaz Sharif had declared in his speech after the success of the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan that we will not take revenge on anyone and will not do injustice to anyone.

Addressing the National Assembly, Shehbaz Sharif said that a new dawn is about to appear today and the prayers of the people of Pakistan have been accepted by Allah.

He said that all the members of the joint opposition were thankful to Allah.

Earlier, voting on no-trust motion was held after Speaker and deputy speaker of National Assembly had resigned from their offices here late Saturday.

Speaker Asad Qaiser and deputy speaker Qasim Suri had earlier resigned.

Asad Qaiser handed over the Speakership to PML-N’s Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq conducted voting on the no-trust motion.
