I don’t hold secret meetings nor does change parties for temporary gain: Ch Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Estranged Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) stalwart Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan addressing a presser said he had refused to become a part of PM Abbasi’s cabinet over difference of opinion on some matters in the party.

However, he declined to share the exact reason for his differences with the party leadership.

The former interior minister on the occasion thanked PM Abbasi and ex-PM Nawaz Sharif for their efforts to convince him to join the cabinet.

This is not a suitable time for publicising the reason behind leaving the interior ministry, Nisar said.

There were several causes that led him to quit the ministry, he maintained.

He dismissed the rumours that he had left politics.

No one quits even councillor-ship voluntarily, but I gave up the interior ministry, Nisar told media in a much-hyped press conference here.

Nisar said he is used to speak in party meetings.

He dubbed the elements who had leaked his remarks made in the meetings as dishonest.

I am not used to self praise, he said.

Nisar while listing the accomplishments of the Interior Ministry over the last four years under his leadership said that law and order had considerably improved during the last three years.

Law and order is a provincial subject but whenever a mishap is occurred the interior ministry is blamed. However, every one is ready to take credit for a good work.

He said the the interior ministry has no executive authority.

Speaking about the talks with Taliban, he said that then Gen Kiyani and Gen Zaheerul Islam were on board but some political parties including PPP, MQM and ANP were opposing it.

Today no network of terrorists exists in the country and the terrorism graph had come down.

About 32,000 illegal Pakistani passports issued to foreigners and 200,000 prohibited bore licences were also cancelled.
