Hospital fire claims 25 lives in Saudi Arabia

At least 25 people were killed while 107 sustained serious injured as fire erupted inside a hospital in Jazan General Hospital of Saudi Arabia on Thursday.

Saudi civil defense agency in a statement said that the fire first broke out on the first floor in the intensive care unit (ICU) and the maternity ward of the Saudi Arabia’s port city situated near Yemen’s border.

The injured were transferred to private and general hospitals in the area. Later, a Twitter message said that the fire was brought under control and “an investigation is underway to determine the causes.” It said that security and emergency services supported by 21 civil defense teams had assisted in putting out the fire.
