HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks opened sharply lower Monday, putting them on track for a third successive loss as investors row back ona recent rally ahead of a speech to Congress by Donald Trump this week.
The Hang Seng Index fell 0.53 percent, or 127.84 points, to 23,837.86.
And the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index shed 0.13 percent, or 4.24 points, to 3,249.19, but the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, inched 0.06 percent higher, or 1.25 points, to 2,001.63.
