ISLAMABAD: A woman and her son died after heavy rains hit the twin cities flooding the low-lying areas.
In Sector E-11, a woman and her son died after rainwater entered their house.
The heavy rainfall that started last night still continued and the rainwater has entered houses in low-lying areas. Several vehicles were also swept away by the floodwater.
According to the Met Office, Islamabad had received 330 millimetre rain since last night. Water level in Nullah Lai has continuously been increasing due to rain in Rawalpindi causing a threat of floods in low lying areas. Sirens are being blown to alert the residents in the area.
On the other hand, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) claimed to have cleared 95 per cent of roads after the heavy rains.
It added that although the Sector E -11 does not fall in the jurisdiction of CDA cooperation was being extended in de-watering the area.
