KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said that the government should take immediate steps to facilitate masses against heat waves as it is the obligation for the government and the state.
Addressing a special meeting of the elected representatives and office bearers of the party, he said that the JI is going to establish disaster management cell to provide relief to masses during heat wave.
The JI leader further said that volunteers are being trained for restoration and provision of relief to heat stricken people.
Recalling the last year’s heat stroke crises, he said that incompetency of the government have increased the miseries of thousands of people who were already affected by heat stroke. He further said that loss of precious lives could be controlled, if the K-Electric had showed any shame of responsibility.
He said that once again Karachiites have to face the similar heat waves as they faced last year and demanded of the government to refrain from any leniency in regard with taking drastic measures for provision of relief to masses.
Criticizing the KE, he said that no betterment has been witnessed in the functions of KE during the last one long year. He announced that the JI is going to assist the affectees of the KE against the entity on legal and social arenas.
The JI leader said that the disaster management cells would be activated on grass root level while seminars and workshops would be held to create awareness among various segments of the society.
