KARACHI: The Administrator District Municipal Corporation Malir Tariq Hussain Mughal has said the heatstroke camps have been established in Malir’s public places for a period of 3 months.
He said the camps would provide cold drinking water and packets of ORS to the people taking shelter from the heat.
In a press release issued here Wednesday, Mughal said the staff had been warned that their negligence with regard to provision of the required facilities to the masses at the camps would not be tolerated.
Accompanied by Municipal Commissioner Manzoor Hussain Abbassi, the administrator visited several camps and asked the citizens about the facilities.
The administrator emphasized for carrying out a public awareness campaign about prevention from heatstroke.
The administrator directed the Focal Person DCM Jamal Nasir to issue show cause notices to the staff who were not performing their assigned duties at the camps. He said the staff’s attendance at the camps should be ensured from 11am to 5 pm.
The focal persons informed Mughal that the camps had been set up at Malir 15, Kala Board, Harmain Chorangi, Saudabad, Model Colony and Bakra Piri areas.
He added that cold drinking water, ORS, glucose and beverages had been made available at the camps.
As many as 5 staffers from DMC and volunteers from Scouts had been assigned duty at each camp while pamphlets containing information about prevention from heatstroks were also being distributed, he apprised.
