Harry Redknapp has ruled himself out of the running to be the next Middlesbrough manager.

Redknapp was one of the men being considered by Boro owner Steve Gibson as he desperately looks for someone to save the club from relegation.

The former Tottenham and Portsmouth boss is still interested in a return to management and there was a feeling he could provide at least a short term solution until the end of the season.
Boro are on the look-out for a new manager after Aitor Karanka was sacked last week with the club languishing in the Premier League relegation zone.
But Redknapp, 70, says a move to Teeside is not one he would consider at this stage in his career.
He said: “I wouldn’t get there in time for training. I’ve only managed places I can drive to from home.”

Boro have put first team coach Steve Agnew in charge of the side on an interim basis following the departure of Karanka last week.

But while he is well liked by the players and the board it is not clear whether he has the support to be given the job on a permanent basis.

Middlesbrough play their first game since Karanka’s dismissal today when they take on a Manchester United side who can move up to fifth with a victory at the Riverside.
