Haq urges Shah to mitigate Karachi miseries on priority basis

KARACHI:  Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Amir Senator Sirajul-Haq has called on Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah, Thursday, and raised the civic issues, being faced by Karachiites.

On the occasion, Qaim Ali Shah agreed Siraj on the existence of severe problems and assured the JI leader that the provincial government would take concrete steps to mitigate the miseries of Karachi.

The JI chief raised the issues of water shortage, prolonged load shedding, lack of cleanliness and mass transit system for the city.

Following the meeting, the JI leader in a press briefing, said that there is a long list of miseries of the metropolis. He said that he deemed it necessary to take the CM on board so as to get the issues resolved.

He was of the view that Karachi is not only a city but a reflection of the entire Pakistan as well as the Muslim world. Along with the passage of time, the population and the problems both were raised subsequently.

He said that the major problems of water and electricity had been prevailing since long but no serious effort was ever made for the resolution of these problems.

The JI chief also lamented the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and said that the party enjoyed the rule over the city but only the party leaders remained the beneficiary of their prolonged rule over the city.

He said that the JI has demanded of the government to announce Rs 500 billion package  for the city as it is the need of the hour. He further said that the party delegation has told the CM that corruption has ruined all the institutions and the malice of corruption should be ended now.

The JI chief was of the view that each and every individual have to play his or her role for the elimination of corruption from the society
