Half of children in Sindh are out of schools: Khuhro

KARACHI: About half of children in the province are out-of-schools and government is utilizing  all available resources to ensure that they can acquire education.

Sindh Minister for Education, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro stated this while speaking at a seminar organized by the Pakistan Marine Academy here on Tuesday.

Besides, conditions of schools are improved to attract more youngsters. Biometric system has been introduced to ensure attendance of teachers, he added. The Minister said that academic institutions being run by Pakistan Navy and other forces, are performing very well.

He lauded holding of the seminar and said that these should be conducted from time to time. Khuhro pointed out that Pakistan Navy is the best force among the navies in the world.

He said that Pakistan Marine Academy is recognized at international level. Foreigners also come here for acquiring training.

The Minister pointed out that more cadet colleges are being established in the province. PN’s commander Karachi, Rear Admiral Farrukh Ahmed, said that Marine Academy is playing an effective role for taking benefit from our marine resources.

He said that total length of coastline of the country is 1,004 kms. Pakistan’s sea limits have increased to 350 nautical miles.

Chairman of Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, Arif Illahi, Chief Engineers Pakistan Maritime Academy, Rashid Yahya Usmani, also spoke on the occasion.
