KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Chapter Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has urged the people of Karachi to take into streets for their due rights and resolving of issues like power outage and water crises; adding that the Karachiites with their power of votes should reject those who spill crocodile tears over prevailing water crises in city.
He was addressing a protest demonstration organized by JI District Central against non-availability of water supply at Matric Board Office round about in North Nazimabad area.
A large number of protestors including women, children and elderly men were participated in the protest.
The protestors were raised placards and banners inscribed with anti-provincial government and KWSB management slogans.
Addressing the gathering, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has urged the people to elect honest and competent leadership with their power of votes in upcoming Local Bodies’ (LB) polls.
On the occasion, he termed those who spill crocodile tears, main culprit and responsible of prevailing water crises, adding that the present and previous governments are not paying any attention towards the water issue in Karachi.
He said that the non-serious attitude of PPP and MQM governments and local administrations had compelled the Karachiites to take into streets and stage protest demonstrations against non-availability of water and power.
He said that the coalition partners in previous governments PPP and MQM have destroyed the infrastructure including road-railways and other transportation systems; adding that the previous governments of MQM and PPP have also failed to increase the water supply quota as per the requirement of population.
On the occasion, Hafiz Naeem demanded to implement K-4water project immediately, installation of desalination plants and recycling of industrial water to eliminate the water shortage of the masses.
PML-N leader Azhar Hamdani while lauding the efforts of Jamaat-e-Islami in resolving the issues of Karachiites said that the JI leadership was always served the masses whenever it got changes to serve the people.
“Why the previous governments did not pay any heed towards the water crises in Karachi”, he questioned.
JI Naib Ameer Karachi Muzaffar Hashmi said that the JI leadership from the reigns of Abdul Sattar Afghani and Niamatullah Khan as city mayors was resolved the issues of the masses.
He further informed that the people of Karachi need total water supply of 1450mgd, but unfortunately they get only 580mgd which is a major cause of water shortage in recent days.
On the occasion, Hashmi demanded releasing of Rs100million immediately for resolving the prevailing water crises.
JI Karachi General Secretary Abdul Wahab, Ghazanfar Hashmi, Muhammad Yousuf and others were also present on the occasion.
