KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Engr. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has strictly condemned the extrajudicial killings in the pretext of encounters and said that questions are being raised on the role of police and its credibility.
In a statement on Friday, the JI leader expressed serious reservations on the role of law enforcement agencies.
He also expressed deep concerns over rising street crimes and deteriorating law and order situations in the city.
Engr. Naeem said that LEAs claimed to have killed several terrorists after each and every incid ent of terrorism and the continuation of this act has raise doubts on the role of police.
He further said that there is no respite in the crimes in the city and traders are facing acute hardships due to the situation but police seems helpless in this regard.
The JI leader also criticized the government over its cosmetics measures, instead of showing some resolve against terrorists.
He added that after every incident of terrorism, the government imposes 144 and law enforcers start interrupting commuters, whereas the situation only affects peaceful citizens, instead of terrorists.
He said that LEAs also make tall claims regarding arrests of criminals and recovery of weapons but no change is witnessed in the situation.
He added that heirs of 259 victims of Baldia factory inferno are still waiting for justice.
The JI Karachi chief demanded of the law enforcers to take across the board action against terrorists and criminals.
