Joint Investigation Team (JIT) completed initial investigation report over deadly train accident in Gujranwala that claimed at least 18 lives of security officials and their family members.
The report revealed that railway track was not broken but evidences were found regarding worsen condition of the railway track near the bridge.
Moreover, locomotive and bogies of the rubbed the ground 70 metres away from the track and than fell into a canal, report said.
However, investigation are underway to determine reasons behind the incident.
It is noteworthy to mention here that the JIT is comprising three high-ranked Army officers and two officials from Pakistan Railways. The members include Major General Shahzad Sikandar, Brigadier Naseem Baig and Colonel Faheem from the Army and Inspector Muhammad Arshad, Assistant General Manager Humayun Rasheed, Liaquat Chughtai and Majeed Baig from the Pakistan Railways.
The team had visit site of the accident at 10:00am today and also recorded statements of the injured persons and announced to submit final report within 72 hours.
