Govt working on making electricity cheaper by Rs6-8 per unit

The federal government is working to reduce the price of electricity in the next two months.

According to power division officials, the federal government is working to make electricity cheaper by Rs 6 to 8 per unit in the next two months and in this regard talks are also underway to get loans of Rs 1300 billion from banks.

Officials said that this loan will be taken for fixed rate and time, circular debt will be eliminated from the loan.

According to officials, the government has saved Rs700 billion in negotiating with IPPs, removed interest of Rs300 billion from IPPs and so far contracts of six IPPs have been terminated while tech and pay has been negotiated with 25 IPPs.

Officials further said that the task force is in talks with the government power plants, with this effort, they want to make electricity cheaper by Rs 6 to Rs 8 per unit for two months.
