ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that the government’s failure to present all the documents called for by the Supreme Court on Monday was a continuation of its delaying tactics to prolong the case.
Talking to the media at Islamabad, he said that the rulers had already gone pale and seemed to have no words to defend themselves.
Sirajul Haq said that the JI as also the nation wanted across the board accountability of all including the rulers, the opposition as also the bureaucracy.
He said the JI had approached the court for evolving an effective mechanism to weed out loot and plunder of public money.
He said it was due to corruption that the country was under heavy debt and had also been defamed in the comity of the nations.
However, a section of the society was opposing accountability and was trying to sabotage the process in this direction.
The JI chief pointed out that during the eight months, none of the state institutions had taken any action in regard to the Panama leaks.
He said that a former NAB chairman was on record to have disclosed that corruption to the tune of Rs. 12.5 billion was taking place in the county annually. He said the question was why NAB had not taken any action in this respect.
