Govt to take measures to end discrimination against women: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the government will take all the necessary steps to bring an end to all kinds of discrimination against women.

He was addressing a function in connection with the screening of Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy’s documentary “A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness” at the Prime Minister Office in Islamabad on Monday.

He said men and women enjoy equal rights in Islam and the government has laid special focus on the protection of women rights and empowering them in the Vision 2015.

The Prime Minister said civil society, religious scholars, and media condemned crimes against women in the name of honour.

He said that killing in the name of honor is wrong and relevant legislation will be done to check inhumane practice.
