Govt strikes Musharraf name off ECL

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Thursday announced to struck off former president Pervez Musharraf’s name from Exit Control List (ECL).

While addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he said that the government took the decision under the light of Supreme Court verdict and allowed Musharraf to leave the country for treatment.

“The government has decided to allow Musharraf to travel abroad for treatment. He [Musharraf] has also committed he will face all cases against him in court,” Nisar said.

“Following his lawyers’ application, the government has decided,  in the light of decision taken by the apex court  to allow Musharraf to travel abroad for treatment, “he added.

Nisar said that he did not have any personnel conflict with the Pervez Musharraf and their government had uthorised SC, NAB, FIA to put any person’s name in ECL or struck off the name. He was of the view that the SC allowed Musharraf to go abroad and the government only complied with the court’s  decision.
