ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Wednesday has said that the government should look into his earnings if he has concealed assets and palaces.
PTI chief addressing to lower house said, Pakistan is the only country that was founded in the name of Islam. It is opposition’s duty to question the government if it misuses public and taxpayers’ money.
Parliament is of no use if the opposition misses check on the government, he said.
Imran said PTI participated in the walkout over Prime Minister’s absence in sessions.
He said that he wanted to comment on premier’s statement over his alleged palace in Bani Gala. While talking about his residence and accountability, Khan said that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is after Sharif family and not him.
Rs 60,000 of taxpayers’ money are spent on each minute of a Parliament s session, he said.
Criticising Prime Minister’s sons, he said they are living abroad, should have registered themselves as citizens there as well.
PTI chief cited examples of foreign leaders who resigned over corruption accusations during his speech.
Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre has been under attack in the past numerous times, Khan said. But, he said it stood strong against all the tests.
Khan also offered the government to investigate flow of funds in and out of Shaukat Khanum hospital.
Democracy’s defense is the people of the country and not armed forces, opposition or the government, he said.
He said that all his wealth was earned abroad and he shifted that money to Pakistan. He had told the Prime Minister, in a casual conversation, about purchasing the apartment, he said.
