ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication Anusha Rahman Khan Thursday said that 500 universal telecentres will be set to provide quality E-services in health, education and agriculture to facilitate people in underserved areas of the country.
Replying to a question of Senator Azam Khan Muskhel during question-hour the minister said tender for setting up of 50 telecentres had already been floated in first phase.
She said theses centers would be equipped with all facilities in order to effectively facilitate people in the respective areas. She said each Telecenter would be connected to Internet through high speed broadband, equipped with computers and other essential network elements including printer, scanner, copier, fax, etc.
She said these Telecenters were inter alia, designed to host the E-services related to Federal and Provincial governments.
