Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that the provision of medical help to the citizens was the responsibility of the government but all the governments in the country so far had failed on this front. He said this during his visit to the Al-Khidmat Mansoora Teaching Hospital on Monday.
Sirajul Haq said that on one hand, billions were spent from the public exchequer on the medical facilities to the cabinet ministers and advisors while on the other hand, the government hospitals and the health department remained neglected. He reiterated that the JI on coming to power, would provide free treatment to the patients of five major diseases.
The JI chief said that thousands of people were falling victim to epidemics due to heavy rains and floods but the government had not made any special arrangements to meet the situation. He said that the treatment of diseases of heart, cancer, hepatitis was so costly that the poor people could not even think of their treatment. He said it was the duty of the welfare state to provide treatment to these diseases.
The JI chief went round the emergency, surgical and medical wards of the hospital and the laboratory and also enquired about the health of patients.
Meanwhile, the JI chief has strongly condemned the desecration of the Masjid e Al Aqsa by the Israeli army and police and their brutal treatment to the people including women folk offering prayers there. He said that no religion in the world allowed desecration of the worship places but the Israeli army enjoying the support of the US- the self styled champion of human rights- had been doing that repeatedly. The Zionists had been occupying Palestine for the last fifty years but the world community had shut its eyes to the situation in Palestine and Kashmir while the Zionists and the Indian Hindus were free to perpetrate brutalities on the Muslims in Palestine and Kashmir.
